A group of people have been accused of attempting to attack, insulting and threatening to kill in Amertol village of Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj due to a previous dispute. The victim in this incident, Jamir Uddin (55), has filed a written complaint with Chhatak police station.
In the complaint, he mentioned that he is the son of the late Akbar Ali of Amertol village and is a peace-loving person. For a long time, a local influential group has been creating conflict against him.
The accused are—
Amir Uddin (65), father- deceased Idris Ali Maina, Sang- Amertol; Kohinur (34), Shahinur (36), both fathers- deceased Babru Mia, Sang- Furkannagar;
Russell (35), Sala Uddin (21), both fathers – Jalal Uddin; Rafiq (35), Saju Mia (32), both fathers – Amir Uddin; Obaidul (22), father – unknown, Sang- Amertal; Amir Ali (60), father – deceased Aslam Ali; Badrul (42), father – deceased Babru Mia, Sang- Furkannagar; Abdul Gafur (55), father – deceased Arab Ali; Khalisur Rahman (30), father – Abdul Gafur; Suhel Mia (45), father – deceased Durab Ali; Farooq (34), father – Abdus Shahid; Ali Amjad (45), father – deceased Ayub Ali; Abul Kashem (22), father – deceased Abdul Basit; Koes Uddin (35), Nasir Uddin (36), both fathers – Siraj Mia; Jubel (21), father – Jamal Uddin; Rumman (28), father- deceased Chhamir Uddin;
Rafiq Mia (32), father- deceased Israel Ali. All- Amertal and Furkannagar, UP- Khurma Uttar, Thana- Chhatak, District- Sunamganj.
According to sources, Jamir Uddin’s cousin Jalal Uddin had previously filed a case against the same defendants at Chhatak Police Station, (Case No.- 05, Date- 01/04/2026, Section- 143/323/325/326/307/379/506/114 Penal Code), which is currently under investigation.
Jamir Uddin alleged that the accused in that case, along with other defendants, were released on bail from the court and started pressuring them again and intimidating them in various ways.
He further stated that on April 11, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am, all the defendants mentioned above arrived at the land near his residence in a group with country-made weapons. During this time, they abused him in obscene language and came to beat him up.
At one stage, they threatened to kill him and his family members and threatened to kill him if they got the chance. The complaint states that the defendants are currently threatening him. Due to this, the victim family is suffering from extreme insecurity and it is feared that a major unwanted incident could happen at any time.
In this regard, Zamir Uddin said, “I am a peace-loving person. In fact, the defendants have been torturing us for a long time. We are currently in extreme fear. We can be attacked at any time. I want the administration to protect our lives.
Chhatak Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mizanur Rahman confirmed the complaint and said that legal action will be taken subject to investigation.
