International Women’s Day was celebrated in Barhatta, Netrokona, with the theme “Today’s steps, tomorrow’s justice, protect the rights of women and girls”. On Sunday, a human chain, colorful rally and discussion meeting were organized on the occasion of the day under the joint initiative of the Upazila Administration and the Department of Women’s Affairs and in collaboration with the non-governmental organization Bangladesh Nari Pragati Sangha.

The discussion meeting, chaired by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Sajedur Rahman and moderated by Nari Pragati Sangha Center Manager Surjit Bhowmik, was held at the temporary hall of the Upazila Parishad. Among others, Medical Officer Anna Purna Dev, Social Service Officer Md. Golam Hossain, Information Officer Kafia Sultana, General Secretary of Barhatta Press Club Azizul Haque Faruk, S.I. of Barhatta Police Station Mostafizur Rahman, General Secretary of the Women’s Violence Prevention Committee Rumana Jahan Eni, among others, spoke.
Also present were heads of other offices, civil society figures, and journalists from print and electronic media.
