Detainee in Narail murder case dies in jail. A person named Humayun Sheikh (42), who was in jail in a murder case after falling ill in Narail, has died. Ujjwal Roy, District Correspondent from Narail, said that he was taken to Narail District Hospital from jail around 2 am on Friday (August 22) and was declared dead by the doctor.
Alok Kumar Bagchi, a doctor on duty at the emergency department of Narail District Hospital, confirmed the death.
The deceased Humayun Sheikh is the son of the deceased Khelafat Sheikh of Kanchanpur village in Kalia upazila.
According to relevant sources, the person named Humayun Sheikh, who is in Narail District Jail, is the accused number 8 in the Farid murder case of Kanchanpur village in Kalia upazila.
He had been in the district jail for the past 2 months. He had been suffering from fever there for the past 4/5 days. When he suddenly fell ill on Friday midnight, the prison authorities took him to Narail District Hospital.
Later, Alok Kumar Bagchi, a doctor on duty at the hospital’s emergency department, declared him dead. He said that the man had died before being brought to the hospital.
In this regard, Narail District Jail Jailer Md. Amirul Islam said that the man had been suffering from fever for the past 4/5 days, became more ill on Friday night, and later, when he was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared him dead. The body will be handed over to the family after the legal process.
