The much-awaited “Police Week-2026” has begun at the capital’s Rajarbagh Police Lines with colorful parades, parades, tight security and a festive atmosphere. On Sunday (May 10) at 9 am, Hon’ble Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Tariq Rahman attended as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the Police Week.
The Rajarbagh Police Lines, adorned with the soft light of the morning, turned into a stage of unique national pride. The rhythmic march of well-armored policemen, mesmerizing performances by bands and disciplined parades lend a royal air to the entire event. The Prime Minister visited the parade and took salute from the members of various units. At this time, the policemen present honored the Prime Minister with the national salute.
Various aspects of Bangladesh Police’s important role in maintaining law and order, fighting crime, combating militancy, drug control, cyber security and public service were highlighted in the event. In his speech, the Prime Minister appreciated the contribution of the Bangladesh Police in ensuring the safety of the people and reiterated the government’s commitment to build a modern, people-friendly and technology-based police force.
He said, “Bangladesh Police is playing a very important role in maintaining peace and order in the country. By gaining the trust and confidence of the people, the police should be transformed into a more humane and modern force.”
Ministers, Members of Parliament, Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP), foreign diplomats, Additional IGPs, various Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs, Superintendents of Police of various districts of the country were present at the annual police parade.
There was tight security throughout the event. Special security plans have been taken in Rajarbagh and surrounding areas. Modern security scanning systems and special protocols are in place for arriving guests.
On the occasion of Police Week, Rajarbagh Police Lines are decorated with colorful lights, national flags and various slogans. The discipline, efficiency and coordinated parade of the members of the various units participating in the event impressed the guests present.
Those concerned said that various programs have been taken up across the country on the occasion of Police Week-2026. These include special discussions, seminars, felicitation of meritorious policemen, public awareness programs and brainstorming sessions on modern policing.
The guests commented that the parade organized in an atmosphere of national dignity and pride has become a unique reflection of the professionalism, discipline and ability of the law enforcement forces of the country.
