The new committee of the banned Chhatra League at Rabir 11

Rajshahi Correspondent:

Announcing the new committee of the ‘banned’ Chhatra League on Rabir 11, the Chhatra Dal says it is ridiculous.
A partial committee of the Chhatra League has been declared ‘banned’ in 11 residential halls of Rajshahi University (Rabi) boys. On Monday (May 4) night, General Secretary of the University Branch Chhatra League Asadullah Hill Ghalib published this committee on his personal Facebook ID.

The name of the president and general secretary of each hall was published in the list of these committees signed by the president of the university branch Chhatra League Mustafizur Rahman Babu and general secretary Asadullah Hill Ghalib. However, the student organizations active in the university gave an immediate response to the incident. Some of the student leaders also feel that the ‘banned’ organization is trying to create ‘anarchy’ in the campus.

Sultan Ahmed Rahi, President of University Branch Students’ Union said, ‘This organization is banned and their leadership is absconding. They are also completely isolated from the students. In such a situation, the committee’s announcement is simply ridiculous and devoid of reality. We are not giving any importance to their declaration of this committee.’

Chhatra League committee President Mujahid Faisal termed Prakash Campus as a ‘conspiracy to destabilize’ university wing Islami Chhatrashibir. He said, ‘The formation of a hall committee of a banned and terrorist organization is completely illegal. Apart from this, those who have been given the committee are all identified criminals in the campus. They have been involved in various criminal offenses like seat trading, extortion, women torture, assaulting teachers and student torture in the past 24 years, including terrorist attacks on students in July-August.

He said, ‘This is definitely a conspiracy to destabilize the campus. Many of the BCL are still roaming the campus. He is also doing various crimes including drug trade. University administration and police should identify these terrorists of Chhatra League and take legal action.

Fuad Ratul, the spokesperson of the alliance of leftist organizations and the convenor of the university branch Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Fuad Ratul said, “I don’t think it is relevant for the Chhatra League or the Awami League to do politics in this country with the blood of thousands of martyrs in the July movement.” The trial for the massacre in July is still pending. It can be said that the publication of the BCL committee while it is banned is a kind of misadventure. However, the people of Bangladesh have not forgotten July yet, so the people of this country will not accept their actions in any way.’

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Faridul Islam said that any ‘prohibited’ organization will not be able to conduct any kind of activities on the campus.

He said, many people can do many things online or on Facebook. However, there is no opportunity to conduct their activities in public. We will also share their online activities with intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies. They can’t do anything in the university until a proper trial is done.
