A house was robbed late at night in Ramchandrapur village of Deuli union in Shibganj upazila of Bogra. On Saturday night, around 2 am, a group of 8-10 masked robbers entered the house of Bibhas Sarkar by cutting the window.
Basana Rani Sarkar (50), Alpana Rani Sarkar (45) and their mother were at the house at the time. The robbers entered the house, tied the hands and feet of the two women, beat them up and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.
Shuvojit Sarkar, a member of the victim’s family, who studies in Bogra city, said that the robbers took away about eight tons of gold ornaments, lakhs of rupees and brass utensils. They also blocked the doors of the surrounding houses from outside, so no one could come out to help despite hearing the screams.
In this regard, Shibganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinuzzaman said that the victims have not yet filed a case. However, he claimed that the involved parties have been identified. The same gang is said to have also robbed Mirpur village of Deuli Union on Saturday night.
