Chittagong Correspondent:
Amid the volatility of fuel prices in the global market due to the Iran-Israel tensions in the Middle East, there has been some relief news for the country. Four fuel ships carrying LNG, LPG and gas oil are currently at the Chittagong Port.
The Public Relations Department of the Chittagong Port Authority confirmed this information on Monday (April 6).
According to port sources, the ships carrying these fuel products from India, Malaysia, Nigeria and China have anchored at the Chittagong Port in the last few days.
Among them, the LPG-carrying ‘Gas Challenger’ arrived at the port on March 31 and is currently at the Bhatiari area. The ‘Shan Gang Fa Xian’ ship carrying gas oil from Malaysia is at the DOJ-6 jetty.
In addition, the ‘Cool Voyager’ carrying LNG from Nigeria and the ‘Gas Journey’ carrying LPG from China arrived at the port on April 5.
An official of the public relations department of the Chittagong Port Authority said that four fuel tankers are currently at the port and the work of unloading fuel from these ships will be completed soon.
He also said that priority is being given to the quick unloading of these fuels to maintain normal fuel supply in the country and keep power generation running. It is expected that the unloading of the products will be completed within the stipulated time.
Those concerned believe that if these fuel products are unloaded, the country’s ongoing energy crisis will be eased to some extent.
